THURSDAY, 1ST JUNE, 2017 – SEA DAY........ FRIDAY, 2ND JUNE, 2017 – HONG KONG

We woke to a hot and very steamy day, but are very excited that we are meeting my cousin and her family who have been living in Hong Kong for several years.  We berthed at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal (the old airport terminal) which looks like a space ship.  It is a long way from anywhere downtown, hence shuttle buses were provided for all the passengers.  We opted to catch a taxi with Ros & Arnold to the ferry terminal and then caught the Star Ferry over to Central which was a great move as we had time to have coffee and catch up on 'free mail' and beat the shuttle buses!!

My cousin took us to their home on the bus, which was an interesting sightseeing trip and we enjoyed lunch and lots of catching up chatter.  Later in the afternoon Barb took us to the nearby Stanley Markets as we hadn't been there before.  It was a pretty location on the bay with a nice piazza, where more cool drinks hydrated us….. the markets were smaller than we had hoped, but I did get my sunhat.

The temperature soared and the humidity was literally 95% - we were all melting!!  A quick trip home to change clothes, and catch up with their dear children and then we were whisked off to The China Club where we had a pre dinner drink on the terrace and viewed the night lights of this modern and beautiful city.  We enjoyed a great dinner in this lovely, old and prestigious club, steeped with atmosphere and antiques.   Sad farewells, but hopefully we'll all catch up again in Oz in the not too distant future.

Onward bound and we're off to Shanghai, China in 3 days time.
